Excerpt from the introduction by an art theorist Lee Yunjeong:
“The exhibition 'Life in Harmony with Nature' at Angel in Art is a special project dedicated to the harmony between nature and humanity. It delves into concepts of accord, interconnectedness, and coexistence, which have held great significance for humanity throughout history. In historical contexts, harmony with nature has often been considered one of the key philosophical questions. However, at certain times, nature was perceived as something to be overcome for the sake of civilizational progress. Recently, with global focus shifting towards climate and environmental issues, there is increasing attention on the interdependent relationships between humanity and nature, leading to the emergence of “ecological art” as an important aspect.
This exhibition’s main goal is to explore the values that can be derived from humanity’s prolonged coexistence with nature, as well as how this harmony can truly be achieved. We aim to take a step back from the complexities of modern interconnections and instead focus on the values nature bestows—highlighting the beauty that emerges from mutual assistance and coexistence, and appreciating the essence of nature as an aesthetic object through the works of 26 artists
The participants in the exhibition, representing various countries across Europe and Asia, showcase the diversity and atmosphere of their regions, each expressing their feelings in unique ways. Scenes that evoke the origin of life, and moments that can only be experienced in the presence of majestic nature, ultimately lead to feelings of peace, well-being, care, and love.
. . .
Ultimately, we pose the question: what should be the path for our coexistence with nature?”
